The theme of the traning: “Make yourself respected by respecting the others!”, 5-13.11.2011, Targu Jiu, Romania

Today, media and audiovisual tools are used in both formal and non-formal education, attracting young people who find in it an opportunity for meeting each other and for self-expression. These tools promote human interactions and help youth workers to deal with sensitive themes such as the discrimination one.

During this training the participants will improve their skills in working with young people (locally and internationally) and fulfill their needs for media-knowledge to use in their daily life and work.

The theme of “Make yourself respected by respecting the others!” is fighiting against discrimination of any kind.

The focus of the project will be both to raise awareness of discrimination, but also to find the practical means to fight against discrimination using as tool mass-media and especially new media.

The aim is to offer to youth workers, who are basically not experienced in media and audiovisual tools the basic knowledge of using media “equipment” in youth work. Secondly, to show them how media techniques can be used for the purposes of youth work and how it can help them in fighting the discrimination on any kind.
